The Texas Equitable Vaccine Uptake Fund
Your Shot Texas is philanthropy’s collaborative response to raise confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and increase access among priority groups — those most affected by the virus and historically-marginalized populations across the state.
The Your Shot Texas fund provides grant dollars to community-based and grassroots organizations with existing relationships to priority communities, including people of color and under-resourced rural and urban communities. The fund aims to fill the gap and support outreach efforts of organizations and activities that may not qualify for public resources, but offer a promising approach at increasing vaccine confidence and uptake.
The pooled fund prioritizes focus on communities that are outside of the health care system and are best reached by trusted messengers to address any remaining hesitancy about the vaccine. These communities may face various barriers that make accessing the vaccine difficult.
The $2.35 million fund was created by Episcopal Health Foundation, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc., and The Meadows Foundation. It is also supported by funding support from other philanthropic organizations across the state. The Your Shot Texas fund is administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

Your Shot Texas supports efforts and strategies to effectively increase COVID-19 vaccine confidence and complete vaccinations among historically-marginalized communities throughout Texas by partnering with nonprofit organizations that have existing, trusting relationships with community residents.
Outreach efforts supported may include door-to-door canvassing, outreach through community gathering places (e.g., churches, community centers) and trusted messengers, and targeted use of social media, focus groups, phone and texting campaigns, among other strategies proposed by partners.
In partnership with qualified vaccine providers, we encourage partners to propose ways to increase vaccination rates among underserved and historically-marginalized communities. Efforts supported may include vaccine appointment scheduling and follow up to ensure second dosages; mobile distribution sites/methods; transportation to vaccination centers through coordinated transportation or buses, public transportation tokens, rideshare gift cards, etc.; and administrative expenses related to distribution of paper materials, purchase of incentives/gifts.
Because of the significant resources already available and the targeted focus on this fund, the following organizations and activities are not eligible: clinics, research, and mass media (information only) campaigns.
The deadline to receive Round 2 applications is August 6, 2021
