Congregational Engagement

Focus Area – Mental and Behavioral Health

EHF Congregational Engagement strives to reduce stigma and combat misconceptions by partnering with congregations to increase awareness for mental health. EHF provides support for congregations to foster community partnerships in their effort to develop and sustain community-based mental health initiatives.

Congregations and communities can improve lives not only through improving access to care, but also by cultivating communities that encourage all dimensions of wellness and are inclusive, welcoming, and supportive across all forms of diversity.

EHF promotes community learning opportunities at the local level. For example, EHF has supported Mental First Aid Training for congregations and their communities resulting in almost 1,400 people certified since 2017.

Several congregations in the diocese have grown significant and well partnered mental health ministries.
