Did you know that nearly 1 in 8 Texas households struggles with food and nutrition insecurity—and that lack of access to healthy foods is directly linked to worse outcomes in maternal health and chronic diseases like diabetes?

As part of a month-long focus on food and nutrition, EHF is highlighting how food insecurity is a powerful driver of overall health—and why we’re investing in upstream solutions that bring healthy options within reach for more Texans.

“Food is health—and it’s one of the most important preventive tools we have,” says Dr. Ann Barnes, EHF’s president and CEO. “From pregnancy to chronic disease, good nutrition is foundational to better health. If we want healthier communities, we have to make healthy food available, affordable, and accessible.”
