The Episcopal Health Foundation invites you to take part in a Learning Community composed of a series of 90-minute sessions aimed at exploring how we can create connection and promote the mental health and well-being of people in our communities and congregations. The sessions will have two primary goals:
1) Increasing participants’ mental-health related knowledge, facilitative skills, and adaptability during this challenging time; and
2) Building connections across congregations in Texas with similar interests in promoting congregational and community well-being.

The Learning Community is a next step for Episcopal congregations looking for imaginative ways to connect, deepen strategies for promoting mental health and well-being, and gain experience using virtual meeting platforms to invite meaningful conversation. You are encouraged to participate in multiple sessions, but given the demands of the moment, we anticipate people may not be able to attend all sessions.

Shifting Strategy: Adapting During Uncertain Times

Please contact Eric Moen at emoen@episcopalhealth.org if you are interested in attending

What You’ll Need in Order to Meaningfully Participate
– Zoom, which can be downloaded here: https://zoom.us/download. Zoom lets you connect in a variety of ways – from a laptop, phone app, or by dialing in. You can even combine things (for instance using the phone dial-in for audio and the computer video). Test your system here: https://zoom.us/test
– This isn’t a session on how to use Zoom, but you’ll get some good experience WITH Zoom during the time we’re together, and it might give you some ideas for how you can gather people in your own community online. Learn more about Zoom: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-Video-Tutorials
– Sound tends to be better when people wear headphones, but it’s fine for many people without them. FYI, when you join Zoom video will automatically be turned on. You can manually turn this off when you arrive.
– A quiet-enough space to hear the session and contribute yourself.
– Paper and a writing utensil.
– Some patience, your sense of humor, a little bit of a taste for adventure, or at least some curiosity.

The Episcopal Health Foundation Congregational Engagement Team works with the Episcopal congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to deepen their outreach ministries engaging in building healthy communities.
