We’re proud to announce that Eric Moen has joined EHF as our newest Congregational Engagement Officer. Moen comes to EHF after more than 25 years of leadership in Episcopal youth and young adult ministry, outreach and world missions. Moreover, he brings extensive experience in community development, partnership building, volunteer leadership development, and mission strategy within Episcopal settings.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Moen grew up in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas and began his work at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Austin as Director of Youth Ministry, followed by Trinity Episcopal and St. Martin’s Episcopal in Houston.
Most recently, he was the Director of Urban Missions at St. Martin’s where he established world missions, designed and led annual mission trips, and co-developed the multi-partner mentoring ministry ReVision Houston.
Moen is an active member of Christ Church Cathedral in Houston and has built relationships with congregations across the diocese. He has also been involved with Camp Allen for over 30 years as a board member, camp director and camp advisory board member.
“It’s a privilege to have Eric join our team,” said Lexi Nolen, EHF’s Vice President for Impact, who oversees the Congregational Engagement work. “We know he will help us deepen our relationships across the diocese and enhance the impact of our work in communities.”
Eric will work alongside Lisa Madry to support the 150+ Episcopal congregations within the 57 counties of the diocese. The Congregational Engagement team’s goal is to move congregations from charity-oriented outreach to effective community engagement and collaboration with others to improve community health. Eric will also work to develop strategic initiatives and approaches to maximize community health impact through partnership with EDOT churches and institutions.
