Decisions made at the Texas Capitol can have a direct impact on the health of Texans.
That’s why Episcopal Health Foundation is sponsoring an upcoming Texas Tribune event in Fort Worth focused on the 2027 Texas Legislature and what the upcoming session could mean for people and communities across North Texas.
The event will bring together Fort Worth lawmakers and civic leaders to discuss their priorities for the legislative session and some of the major issues facing the region. Texas Tribune Editor-in-Chief Matthew Watkins will moderate the conversation.
For EHF, public policy is an important part of improving health, not just health care. Health Policies is one of the three Action Areas in EHF’s strategic framework, reflecting the important role policy can play in removing barriers to better health. That includes decisions about health insurance coverage, maternal health, food and nutrition, Medicaid, and affordability.
The conversation also comes as EHF expands its work in North Texas. Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and surrounding communities are now part of EHF’s service area. EHF is working with organizations across the region to better understand local health needs, build new partnerships, and support efforts that remove barriers to better health.
