2025 Digging Deeper Digest: A Year Framed by Data, Partnership, and Policy

Spotlighting systems, policies, and partnerships that shape the health of Texans
Briana Martin | EHF

In 2025, EHF’s Digging Deeper series continued to spotlight the systems, policies, and partnerships that shape the health of Texans.

Throughout the year, eight posts traced a clear narrative arc: Texas communities are innovating and collaborating to address non-medical drivers of health, supported by EHF’s efforts to strengthen data, tools, and partnerships needed to accelerate systems change.

Cross-Cutting Themes From the 2025 Digging Deeper Series

Data as a Catalyst | When data tools are accessible and contextualized, they empower communities and organizations to identify priorities and drive more informed action.

Bringing Partners Together | Whether through Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, rural Emergency Medical Services, or food organizations, collaboration across health care, public agencies, and community organizations can strengthen the systems that support health.

Highlighting Alignment and Connected Networks | Shared goals, shared data, and coordinated action is what allows networks to respond more effectively to community needs and support lasting improvements in health.

Improving Food Security in Texas | Strengthening food security in Texas requires both effective statewide supports and a connected network of community organizations to work hand in hand to help Texans access the food and nutrition they need.

Looking Ahead in 2026: Continuing to Explore What Shapes Health in Texas

As we move into 2026, EHF’s Digging Deeper series remains an opportunity to reflect, question, and learn alongside communities about what shapes health across Texas.

While the specific topics for the year are still
emerging, the direction set by EHF’s updated strategic framework provides a clear compass. The coming year offers space to continue examining the systems and uplifting the perspectives of partners working closely to the issues that shape health in Texas.
