With millions of Texans facing uncertainty about when or if their SNAP funds and other health-related benefits will be restored, Episcopal Health Foundation is working with partners to help meet immediate needs.
EHF is investing $1,225,000 in grants to five organizations that are helping families navigate the instability of federal programs and access food and nutrition programs and benefits. It’s part of their work to connect Texas families to health-promoting programs.
The grants are going to:
- ECHOS (Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services)
- Katy Christian Ministries
- Luz de Atabey Midwifery Project
- Todos Juntos Learning Center
- The Women’s Home
EHF accelerated this round of funding so that dollars could quickly reach partners providing essential food access and nutrition support. These organizations are managing increased demand and limited resources as they help communities navigate ongoing uncertainty about the future of federal programs, including food assistance.
“This is a difficult moment for many Texas families. Access to healthy food is a basic foundation for health. When that access is disrupted, the health effects directly impact those families. Our goal is to help local partners meet urgent needs now while continuing to build stronger systems that prevent these crisis situtations in the future.”
This latest effort is part of EHF’s ongoing commitment to address non-medical factors that influence health, including food and nutrition security.
