SUMMARY:EHF Learning Community on Mental Health and Well-Being | Community Grief\, Response\, and Healing
DESCRIPTION:EHF Learning Community on Mental Health and Well-Being\nHosted by the EHF Congregational Engagement Team and mental health partners Lynda Frost and Anna Jackson \n \nREGISTER HERE! \nThe Episcopal Health Foundation invites you to take part in a Learning Community composed of a series of 90-minute sessions aimed at exploring how we can create connection and promote the mental health and well-being of people in our communities and congregations. The sessions will have two primary goals:\n1) Increasing participants’ mental-health related knowledge\, facilitative skills\, and adaptability during this challenging time; and\n2) Building connections across congregations in Texas with similar interests in promoting congregational and community well-being. \nThe Learning Community is a next step for Episcopal congregations looking for imaginative ways to connect\, deepen strategies for promoting mental health and well-being\, and gain experience using virtual meeting platforms to invite meaningful conversation. You are encouraged to participate in multiple sessions\, but given the demands of the moment\, we anticipate people may not be able to attend all sessions. \nCommunity Grief\, Response\, and Healing \n Date: Wednesday\,June 17\, 2020\n Time: 12:30PM – 2:00PM CST\nREGISTER HERE! \nThe second Learning Community session\, “Community Grief\, Response\, and Healing” is scheduled for Wednesday\, June 17 from 12:30-2:00pm CDT. Learning Community sessions will have topics focused both on mental health-related content and virtual facilitation processes. \nIn this session\, we will discuss how experiences of collective (often referred to as historical) grief\, trauma\, and healing influence mental health and their relationship to complex challenges like our nation’s history of racial injustice and what we are navigating in the COVID era. We will also spotlight one of the participating congregations and have some time and space to tap the collective wisdom of this group. As always\, the session will be highly interactive and have a practical focus. \nPlease contact Eric Moen at emoen@episcopalhealth.org if you are interested in attending \nWhat You’ll Need in Order to Meaningfully Participate\n– Zoom\, which can be downloaded here: https://zoom.us/download. Zoom lets you connect in a variety of ways – from a laptop\, phone app\, or by dialing in. You can even combine things (for instance using the phone dial-in for audio and the computer video). Test your system here: https://zoom.us/test\n– This isn’t a session on how to use Zoom\, but you’ll get some good experience WITH Zoom during the time we’re together\, and it might give you some ideas for how you can gather people in your own community online. Learn more about Zoom: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-Video-Tutorials\n– Sound tends to be better when people wear headphones\, but it’s fine for many people without them. FYI\, when you join Zoom video will automatically be turned on. You can manually turn this off when you arrive.\n– A quiet-enough space to hear the session and contribute yourself.\n– Paper and a writing utensil.\n– Some patience\, your sense of humor\, a little bit of a taste for adventure\, or at least some curiosity. \nThe Episcopal Health Foundation Congregational Engagement Team works with the Episcopal congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to deepen their outreach ministries engaging in building healthy communities.
