DESCRIPTION:In 2023\, the Congregational Engagement Team will offer a virtual Mental Health Learning Network Series to support congregations as they promote mental health in their communities. The Learning Network is the next step for Episcopal congregations looking for imaginative ways to connect\, deepen strategies for promoting mental health and well-being\, and gain experience using virtual meeting platforms to invite meaningful conversation. \nThe sessions will have two primary goals:\n1) Increasing participants’ knowledge related to mental health and well-being\, particularly through the lens of social justice; and 2) Building connections across congregations in Texas with similar interests in promoting congregational and community well-being. \nSession 4 |September 19\, 2023\nIn September\, the Mental Health Learning Network will host a session that guides participants through a community mental health resource mapping process. We will build on our August session\, where we identified resources that exist in many communities and initial steps people can take to begin listening and learning in their own communities. Between the sessions\, participants will be encouraged to continue mapping resources in their own communities and perhaps identify possible persons or organizations to contact. In the second session\, on September 19th\, participants will be invited to bring their work into the conversation\, engage in sensemaking together\, and consider next steps. Life’s events led her to combine her passion for teaching with the field of parenting and mental health. Angie taught school in the inner city of Chicago for over 15 years before moving to Texas. The move to Texas led her on an exciting journey as she navigated the mental health system with her son.  This journey allowed her to combine the worlds of education and mental health. Combining those subject areas\, she has become an expert trainer and facilitator. Angie has experience in training Certified Family Partners\, Nurturing Program\, Youth and teen Mental Health First Aide. As a trainer and consultant\, she brings innovative ideas and enlightening perspectives to new family partners\, certified family partners\, parents\, staff and supervisors. Angie’s background includes being a parent\, teacher\, trainer\, supervisor of staff working with youth and their families.
