Updated County Health Data tool now available

EHF's new-and-improved county health data tool includes important information on mental health, uninsured rates, and a new way to see how social factors like poverty and poor housing affect neighborhood health.

Every statistic tells a story. And when it comes to where we live, many important numbers and statistics help tell a specific story about the factors contributing to the overall health of our communities.

That’s why EHF’s research team has updated our County Health Data tool with the latest health rankings for all 57 counties in EHF’s service area, along with several new sections focusing on mental health and uninsured rates.

First, find your county on the interactive map. Then, click on that county to get a summary of health and demographic information. Then, use the tabs on the top of the page to get specific information about Outcomes, Access, Behaviors, Mental Health, Social Needs and Children.

It’s the most up-to-date information to help congregations, clinics, nonprofits and other groups better understand the indicators of poor health. That way, communities can talk about what would need to take place to change the numbers.

In addition, EHF’s interactive tool now includes “social vulnerability” numbers from the Centers for Disease Control. When you click on a county, then click the Social Needs tab at the top of the page. The “social vulnerability” data can be used to help identify neighborhoods with vulnerable populations. The data highlights specific census tracts with high rates of poverty, poor housing, and high uninsured rates. This important information shows how non-medical social factors can have a dramatic impact on the health of a community.

We invite you to put this new information to work in your community. Click here to see three ways you can use the data to spark conversation and take actions in new and effective ways!
